EXCERPT FROM THE BOOK:

H. Probosutedjo was born in Yogyakarta on the 1st of May 1930.  When he was teaching history at the ‘Taman Siswa’ (Students’ Garden) highschool he was essentially working for the Department of National Education.  It is no surprise, therefore, that he has an immense sense of nationalism and is not afraid to swim against the currents.  He is unwavering in his beliefs that the right must be righted and the wrong must be held accountable.

H. Probosutedjo is concerned that the historic cycles which brought on the physical revolution era, the Old Order era and the New Order era are being repeated.  The falls of the two Orders are marked with multiple crisis; economic, social, cultural, leadership crisis and, even, crisis in moral issues.  One of the reasons why Soekarno fell was due to his own entourage who never failed to praise him and yet, at the same time, deceived him with engaging reports.

Soekarno was elected as President for life.  However the people who elected him were also the ones who conspired against him and dishonored him.  What Soekarno built, through what is known as the ‘National and Character Building’ concept, was smashed into smithereens.  Indonesians almost lost their identity.

In a similar way, Soeharto was applauded as the ‘Father of Development’ and was revered in the book entitled ‘Soeharto’s Management’.  He is now inhumanely and unjustly disgraced.  What Soeharto has built through his famous ‘Development Trilogy’ concept has been demolished.

Many have forgotten that the only One worthy of praises is Allah the Almighty God.
